Overview

Money is a "magnifier."   It has the ability to enlarge and expand opportunities for heirs.   For unprepared heirs, and for heirs with muddled communications with their parents, this can present special challenges. Money can expand an heir's (unwanted) circle of "friends" and encourage unprepared heirs to "dabble" in ventures that they are not equipped to evaluate... all leading to a growing sense of incompetence.

And we have learned that competence is the essential precursor to confidence... and confidence is essential to self-esteem. Without earned and deserved self-esteem the heir cannot place future opportunity in context. And that sense of context is the focal point of preparing heirs. How to thrive in a world that is becoming increasingly complex, more dependent upon healthy relationships, and also more rewarding to those who are prepared.

At the Institute for Preparing Heirs, we offer best practices for family coaching. The following pages describe in detail the various programs offered by skilled and professional family coaches. It is our intent to provide you with best practices for family coaching.
